VA Hospitals, Clinics, & Centers

Veteran Hospitals
Veteran Hospitals are full service hospitals often in major medical centers that cater to veteran needs. It is at the major hospitals that a definitive diagnosis of mesothelioma or lung cancer is often made and initial treatment is obtained. If you live in a major city you may continue to receive treatment at a VA Hospital. However, many individuals obtain treatment at locations closer to where they live.

Outpatients Clinics
Outpatient Veteran Clinics are often located away from the downtown area in suburbs, smaller towns or the country and provide veterans with primary care physicians, laboratory tests, medications, mental health services, continuing care and preventative services such as flu shots. Veteran Clinics may provide mesothelioma and lung cancer patients with treatment after a diagnosis has been made at major medical hospital.

Veteran Centers
Veteran Centers provide counseling and support for Veterans and their families. In addition, Veterans centers are often a meeting place for Veterans to discuss public policy and legislation, mental health care issues, homelessness or just socialize with others. Some Veteran Centers provide long term health care and housing for veterans. The mission of these centers is to provide affordable, high quality, comprehensive nursing and domiciliary care to Veterans.
