Program Overview
Penn Medicine's mesothelioma program is recognized as a Center of Excellence for thoracic malignancies. The program treats over 80 new mesothelioma patients annually and is a leader in intraoperative photodynamic therapy (PDT) — a light-based treatment used during surgery to destroy remaining cancer cells. The multidisciplinary team includes thoracic surgeons, pulmonologists, medical and radiation oncologists, and pathologists.
