Editorial Standards
Mesothelioma-Lung-Cancer.org is committed to providing accurate, trustworthy, and up-to-date information about mesothelioma, asbestos exposure, and related legal matters. Our editorial standards ensure every article meets the highest standards of accuracy and integrity.
Authorship
Every article on our news platform is authored by a named member of our advisory board or editorial team. Our authors include:
- Board-certified attorneys specializing in asbestos litigation and personal injury law
- Patient advocates with direct experience supporting mesothelioma patients and families
- Veterans advocates with military service experience and knowledge of VA benefits
- Occupational health specialists with expertise in workplace asbestos exposure
Each author writes within their area of expertise. Author profiles, including credentials and published articles, are available on their individual profile pages.
Medical Accuracy
We take medical accuracy seriously. Our standards include:
- Primary sources only — all medical claims cite peer-reviewed research, government health agencies (NIH, NCI, FDA), or published clinical trial results
- No outcome predictions — we never predict individual medical outcomes, survival rates for specific patients, or guarantee treatment effectiveness
- Clear disclaimers — every article containing medical information includes a disclaimer that content is for informational purposes and should not replace professional medical advice
- Author-category matching — articles about treatment advances and research are written or reviewed by authors with appropriate medical or scientific background
Legal Content Standards
Articles covering legal topics adhere to attorney advertising rules and ethical guidelines:
- No guaranteed outcomes — past verdicts and settlements do not guarantee future results
- Jurisdiction noted — legal information specifies applicable jurisdictions where relevant
- Attorney advertising disclosure — articles authored by attorneys include appropriate advertising disclaimers as required by state bar rules
- Statute of limitations awareness — legal articles remind readers that filing deadlines vary by state
Source Standards
We require a minimum of 5 credible sources per article. Acceptable sources include:
- Peer-reviewed medical journals (JAMA, The Lancet, Journal of Thoracic Oncology)
- Government agencies (NIH, NCI, EPA, OSHA, VA)
- Court records and legal databases
- Published clinical trial registries (ClinicalTrials.gov)
- Established medical institutions and cancer centers
We do not cite anonymous sources, unverified social media posts, or press releases without corroborating evidence. All sources are listed at the bottom of each article with direct links where available.
Corrections & Retractions Policy
Accuracy is foundational to our mission. When we make an error, we correct it promptly and transparently. Our corrections process follows these principles:
How We Handle Corrections
- Minor factual errors (dates, names, statistics) are corrected immediately. A correction notice is appended to the bottom of the article with the date and a description of what was changed
- Substantive errors that affect the article's conclusions or medical/legal guidance receive a prominent correction notice at the top of the article, below the headline
- Outdated information is updated when new data, rulings, or research becomes available. The article's "last updated" date is changed, and a note describes what was updated and why
- Retractions are issued if an article's central premise is found to be materially inaccurate. The article is replaced with a retraction notice explaining the reason, with a link to corrected coverage if available
Correction Notices
All correction notices include:
- The date the correction was made
- A clear description of what was incorrect
- The corrected information
- The reason for the error, when relevant
Corrections remain permanently visible on the article. We do not silently edit published content without disclosure.
Report an Error
If you believe any article on this site contains an error, please contact our editorial team:
- Email: meso@dandell.com (include the article URL and a description of the error)

We review all reports within one business day and publish corrections as soon as they are verified.
Medical Advisory Board
Our medical advisory board is being established to provide expert review of all health-related content. Treatment and research articles are currently reviewed for accuracy by our editorial team with reference to published, peer-reviewed medical literature from sources including the National Cancer Institute, PubMed, and major cancer research journals.
As our advisory board grows, all treatment and research articles will carry individual medical reviewer attribution with the reviewer's name and credentials.
Editorial Independence
Mesothelioma-Lung-Cancer.org is sponsored by law firms that represent mesothelioma patients. However, our editorial content is produced independently:
- Sponsors do not review, approve, or influence article content before publication
- Legal sponsorship relationships are disclosed on our About page
- Articles about legal options are informational, not legal advice for any specific case
