Larry Gates
Veterans Benefits & Asbestos Claims Specialist
About Larry Gates
Larry Gates specializes in helping military veterans diagnosed with mesothelioma file VA claims and access asbestos trust fund compensation. As a Military Veteran Support Specialist, Larry serves patients and families across the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, and Guam — ensuring that veterans who served their country receive the benefits and compensation they have earned.
Larry’s dedication to this work is deeply personal. In 1999, his father was diagnosed with mesothelioma while working as a chemical operator at Shell Refinery in Pasadena, Texas. The diagnosis was devastating, and his father died within six months. That experience — watching a hardworking man lose his life to a preventable disease caused by workplace asbestos exposure — became the foundation of Larry’s career and his lifelong commitment to helping others facing the same devastating diagnosis.
Military veterans are among the populations most heavily impacted by mesothelioma. Asbestos was used extensively in Navy ships, Army barracks, Air Force facilities, and military vehicles throughout the 20th century. Many veterans were exposed to asbestos during their service without ever being warned of the dangers. Larry works with veterans from every branch of the military to identify their exposure history, file VA disability claims, and pursue compensation through asbestos trust funds and legal action. For more information about how military service is connected to mesothelioma, visit our Veterans & Mesothelioma resource page.
Larry’s expertise in both VA claims and asbestos trust fund filings allows him to help veterans pursue multiple avenues of compensation simultaneously. He understands the unique challenges that veterans face when navigating the VA system, and he works closely with each veteran and their family to ensure that no benefit or compensation opportunity is overlooked.
Larry’s father was a chemical operator at Shell Refinery in Pasadena, Texas. He was diagnosed with mesothelioma in 1999 and died within six months. Watching his father go through that — knowing it was caused by asbestos exposure he was never warned about — changed Larry’s life forever. Every veteran he helps is personal to him, and he believes they deserve every benefit and every dollar of compensation available to them.
