About Michelle Whitman
Michelle Whitman is a native of Laredo, Texas, and has spent her entire 23-year legal career focused exclusively on representing mesothelioma patients and families affected by asbestos exposure. Her deep commitment to this community, combined with her bilingual fluency in English and Spanish, allows her to serve a broader population of patients who might otherwise face language barriers during one of the most difficult periods of their lives.
Michelle earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, and went on to receive her Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law in 2001. She was admitted to the State Bar of Texas that same year.
She began her legal career at Waters & Kraus LLP in Dallas — one of the nation’s leading asbestos litigation firms — where she quickly distinguished herself through meticulous case preparation and a genuine connection with clients. In 2008, she was named Partner at the firm, a recognition of her consistently excellent work on behalf of mesothelioma patients.
In 2012, Michelle joined Danziger & De Llano, LLP in Houston, where she continues to focus her practice entirely on asbestos-related cases. Over the course of her career, she has handled every phase of asbestos litigation — from pre-suit investigations and discovery through depositions, mediation, and courtroom trials.
Michelle has secured millions of dollars in settlements and verdicts for mesothelioma patients and their families, including cases involving occupational exposure, secondary exposure, and products liability claims. Her thorough understanding of asbestos trust funds, product identification evidence, and exposure history documentation allows her to build compelling cases that maximize compensation for her clients.
Michelle’s approach reflects a core principle: every case represents a real person and a real family. Her mission is to make sure each story is heard, each family’s rights are protected, and every client receives the compensation they deserve. Her ability to serve Spanish-speaking clients in their own language — providing comfort during one of the most difficult times in their lives — is something she takes genuine pride in.
